The Birthplace of KAZUTOYO YAMAUCHI
(Municipally designated historical site)
Kazutoyo Yamauchi was born in Iwakura in July 1545. From the year 1567,Kazutoyo served Nobunaga;in 1584 he became lord of Nagahama Castle,and in the same year he also became lord of Kakegawa Castle. After the death of Hideyoshi Toyotomi,he became an ally of Ieyasu Tokugawa,and in 1600 he became the feudal lord of a large area in Tosa,where he built Kochi Castle. The monument to the birthplace of Kazutoyo Yamauchi was erected inside Shinmeiikuta shrine,Shimohon-machi,in 1934.
